Trainer Details

Who better to train your horse than a man who knows how a champion racehorse must move, who can talk to jockeys in their own language, and who has the known hunger to win at the highest level??

Chris Munce is one of only seven jockeys ever to win Australia’s thoroughbred racing grand slam: the Melbourne Cup, the Caulfield Cup, the Cox Plate, and the Golden Slipper.

He is one of the nation’s premier horsemen. Trusted by Australia’s top trainers, Chris rode some of the best gallopers of our generation, including Desert War, Dance Hero, Dane Ripper and Savabeel.

When Chris finished his riding career with a staggering 42 Group victories, becoming a trainer was a natural progression.

Not every jockey can transition to the other side of the rails, but Munce’s distinguished background in racing and working with horses has seen him make the change successfully. He has always applied a considered analytical approach to riding and his father-in-law is trainer Barry Mitchell.

Chris has seen first-hand the practices of Australia’s most experienced trainers and is now applying all he has learned in his own stable. And it’s paying off.

In his first full season, 2015-16, Chris finished 12th on the metropolitan trainers premiership in Brisbane. Chris has shown he can work with horses with diverse strengths – sprinters, stayers, older horses, and two-year-olds – and he dedicates effort and attention towards getting the best out of all horses with his positive approach.

Chris continues to ride track work, giving him unparalleled insights into the movement and temperament of the horses in his care.

Munce Racing’s boutique stable is a great fit for Adrenaline Thoroughbreds, as they have have known Munce for a number of years and they are proud to be partnering with one of Brisbane’s best to get the most out of their racehorses.
