COLT QTIS QUALIFIED AND OFF TO TONY GOLLAN

This colt is a genuine Queensland racehorse, bred at Rahee Stud and well suited to our local conditions and is eligible for QTIS bonus prize money, which increased on 1 October 2014 and offers particularly rich pickings for two-year-olds.

As this horse has already shown his capacity for racing, he is well placed to capitalise on these bonuses if he continues to show he is ready to run early.

• • From just his first two crops, PUBLISHING has produced Ruby Soho (Stakes placed), Royal Scribe (winner of the 2014 Grafton Guineas) and Stralis (Stakes placed in NZ).
  • PUBLISHING was an early two-year-old sprinter who ran fourth in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and started favourite in the 3YO Magic Millions Classic.

• PUBLISHING has a strong sprinting pedigree. He is by Champion Australian Sprinter, TESTA ROSSA, who was joint champion 3YO in Australasia with REDOUTE’S CHOICE (1999-2000).

• PUBLISHING also has sprinting strength in his dam line. His dam Sally Magic is by KELTRICE, Gr.1 winner of the VRC Lightning Handicap. Sally Magic placed second to TESTA ROSSA in the Gold Coast 2YO Classic in 1999.
• Dodgette is by DODGE, who sired HARD TO CATCH (Stakes winner and Gr.1 placed). Dodgette is a full sister to Dodgem, who placed second in the Gr.2 Grand Prix Stakes.
• This colt is from the family of Gr.1 winners OUR POMPEII, COURTZA, O’REILLY, KAPCHAT and GLAMOUR BAY.

NOT ENOUGH? Adrenaline Thoroughbreds bought the colt at the Magic Millions Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, which is a run up auction, showcasing young horses who have already been broken in and educated. The horses are breezed up, showing their fitness and action in a gallop that is timed over the final furlong (200 metres). The horse with the fastest breeze up time of 10.00s sold for $205,000, and buyers came from as far afield as Singapore, Macau, China and South Korea to get in on the talent.

This PUBLISHING x Dodgette colt ran home 10.39s. It doesn’t get much better than that. Peace of mind in knowing you have sure talent.

Tony Gollan is winner of the 2013-14 Brisbane metropolitan trainers premiership.

He's achieved more than 590 wins in his career including stakes wins with stable stars TEMPLE OF BOOM (Group 1 winner with over $1.7 million prize money), SPIRIT OF BOOM (dual Group 1 winner with over $2.4 million prize money) and LISTEN SON (more than $600,000 prize money).

Tony brings the knowledge of generations to his training practices. He learned from his father, thoroughbred trainer Darryl Gollan, and was mentored by the late JJ Atkins (Australian Racing Hall of Fame trainer).

Originally from Toowoomba, Tony relocated his Darling Downs stable to Eagle Farm in 2012 and industry insiders were quick to notice his advanced training capabilities and potential. Radio TAB thoroughbred caller David Fowler tipped Tony to be “the next big thing in Queensland racing”.

Veteran racing journalist Bart Sinclair said, “Rarely have I been so confident about a young trainer rising through the ranks to stake a claim as a leader in his chosen career.”His success in the 2013-14 season proves these high expectations were justified.

Tony’s recent training achievements in 2014 include:

• Scoring the quinella in the 2014 Doomben 10,000 (Gr.1 ) with SPIRIT OF BOOM and TEMPLE OF BOOM.
• Winning the William Reid Stakes (Gr.1) with SPIRIT OF BOOM.
• Winning the Rough Habit Plate (Gr.3) with AMEXED.
• Placing second in the Stradbroke Handicap (Gr.1) with TEMPLE OF BOOM.
• Running third in the JJ Atkins (Gr.1) with LOOKS LIKE THE CAT.
