Gary Portelli is one of Sydney's premier trainers. With a stable full of talent, Gary is a regular in the winner's circle at Sydney metropolitan and provincial tracks. Team Portelli has also taken their winning formula to Melbourne where satellite stables are based. Racing has always been well and truly in the Portelli brothers' blood as their mother held her own training licence in the 1980s. Gary spent his youth riding track work and breaking in horses and thus was well-positioned to take over training duties from his mother in 1990.
