Trainer Details

Newcastle trainer Jason Deamer is now in his 14th year as a full-time trainer, after a short riding career when his weight got the better of him, with Racing New South Wales granting him his license in 2002.

Jason is a third-generation horseman and followed the career path set by his grandfather Carl and father John - both too were jockeys.

Jason was a successful apprentice at the tender age of 15. Serving the majority of his apprenticeship with his Father before moving to Rosehill when it became apparent he would be an asset in a metropolitan stable, his Father duly transferred his credentials’ to Jack and Allan Denham at Rosehill.

Leaving, the Denham stable when his lanky frame began to fill out and weight started to increase, Jason was just 18 so he returned home to Newcastle and began riding work for Newcastle’s premier trainer at the time, Max Lees.

It was there as Lees’ main work rider, Deamer forged an association with prominent owner David Throsby. Thorsby encouraged Jason to apply for his trainers’ license and was fortunate enough to take over the training of Thorsby’s 2002 Magic Millions winning filly, Lovely Jubly (Lion Hunter – Jaboulet) in 2003.

Jason saddled-up the 2002 Group 1 QTC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner in the Group 2 AJC Surround Stakes, on March 15th, and the then three-year-old filly finished mid-field. Two-weeks later, Jason had his best result yet in a Group 1 feature when Lovely Jubly finished second to Bollinger in the Group 1 STC Coolmore Classic at Rosehill.

At seasons end, Lovely Jubly was transferred to Brian Mayfield-Smith in Victoria with the four-year-year winning another two races from five runs before being retired.

Jason Deamer’s time with Allan and Jack Denham, Max Lees and David Throsby he learned well, was inspired and those secrets have helped shape his skills that have been showcased through Our Renaissance winning six races to bank more than $110,000 for connections.

Jason Deamer maintains a stable of 25-thoroughbreds at Broadmeadow training centre and makes good use of those facilities - that include a swimming pool.

Last season Jason Deamer Racing runners were in the winners’ stall 22% of the time exemplifying returns to stable clients.
