Energetic Light to Dyer

2YO Gelding - Energetic Light

A strong type that has broken in well ....were the words that trainer Neil Dyer used when explaining Energetic Light.

"Although he's still growing - I have high hopes for this bloke.  He's just come into the stable and the work rider likes the way he moves and I think he'll get to a jump-out easily this time around," Dyer said.

Then adding as an after-thought "I think he'll make it to some of those nice 2YO races in the New Year,"  he concluded.

Energetic Light is by Lion Heart who was a decent juvenile himself winning the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (1400m) in a slick 1:20.63.  Later that season the son of Tale Of The Cat went on to win the Grade 1 Hollywood Futurity Stakes.

During his classic year, Lion Heart won the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational Stakes and the Grade 3 Breeders’ Cup and capped off that season with a runners-up cheque in the Kentucky Derby and the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes.

Out of the stakes winning Satin Sunrise (by Mr. Leader), Lion Heart is a half-brother to the American stakes winners Connemara (by Giant's Causeway) and French Satin (by French Deputy).  Like their half-brother, Connemara showed plenty of ability early winning on debut by five lengths and then went on to claim the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby, while, French Satin won the Grade 3 Florida Oaks.

Lion Heart has seven first-crop stakes winners including Soul Warrior (Grade 2 West Virginia Derby);  Azul Leon (winner of the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes) and Hollywood Juvenile Championship (Grade 3); Silent Valor, successful in the Sapling Stakes (Grade 3) at 2; and Heart Ashley, who won the Cicada Stakes and Miss Preakness Stakes (both Grade 3).  While in Australia, success has come in the shape of Double Heart winner of the Listed JF Meynink Stakes (1000m) and Bianca Jewel in this year's Princess Stakes (1600m).

Lion Heart has also left the 2010 Breeders' Cup Turf winner in Dangerous Midge; Champion 3YO filly in Jamaica in Ronron; Kantharos winner of the Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes and his progeny have earned more than $23million with 18 of them stakes winners from less than 500 runners.

Not enough?  The dam of Energetic Light, Raging Inferno is a proven producer as the daughter of Belong to Me is the dam of this seasons' Mitchell Mckenzie Stakes runner-up Hot Spin (by Spinning World), a winner of two and more than $280,000, and the winning, African Heat (by Johannesburg).

Hailing from a family that has produced the outstanding gallopers Solvit (by Morcon) and Heat of the Moment (by Blazing Saddles), this chestnut gelding is going the right way according to Dyer.

During his racing days' Solvit won 15 races and was crowned New Zealand's Champion Highweight competitor after recording victories in New Zealand Group 1 events the Kelt Capital Stakes and the Wellington Thoroughbred Breeders Guineas.
In Australia, he recorded a memorable win in the WS Cox Plate, when he beat Rough Habit, Redding and a cast of headliners to win Australasia's weight-for-age championship in a very slick 2:02.6seconds after leading all-the-way.  In doing so he gave his trainer, Moria Murdoch a return of life time as he had only cost  her $4,500.00 as a yearling .

Another high class animal in the family is Heat of the Moment, winner of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes and George Ryder Stakes, this near black filly was raced by Ross Cribb.  In a twist  earlier this year a descendant of Heat of the Moment gave dual Group 1 winner, Valixir a landmark moment when Whetstone (ex Burford) chalked up that young stallions' first winner in Australia.

Other tough as teak performers from the family are the Listed VRC Great Western Stakes winner, Light Sweeper (by End Sweep) and Wasted Emotions (by Desert Prince), winner of the Listed Hall Mark Stakes and 11 races with more than $470,000 in earnings.
