Hussonet's Risky To Banter

Filly by Hussonet - Risky Banter

Gold Coast based trainer Bruce Hill is looking to keep improving the record of Risky Banter, by the Golden Slipper winner Rory's Jester, with this filly.

Hill selected this filly out the Magic Millions sales ring earlier this year and he is thrilled to be offering shares in a filly from a family that has plenty to offer.

Risky Banter, won on debut at Murray Bridge a day after turning three when she covered the 1000metres in 59.44seconds.  With more than two-lengths over her next rival Risky Banter then stepped up a grade to collect the runner's up cheque for connections at Cheltenham Park.

Statistics show that when mares by Rory's Jester have been bred to Hussonet of the eight foals, three of them have gone to the races and all three are winners!   A point not lost on Hill.

Risky Banter is a proven producer being the dam of seven foals - six of them have got to the races, and of those, four have won races including the black-type earning Leapfrog.

Leapfrog has given his connections many thrills winning seven races and has been in the placings another 11 times and has earned more than $300,000 and is trained by Hill!

Another reason that Hill loved about this chestnut filly.

Risky Banter is out of the VRC Maribyrnong Trial and AJC Keith Mackay Stakes winner,
Dangerous Seam (by Straight Strike) a winner of more than $160,600, in turn a proven
producer being the dam of the stakes winning Seidnazar and Real Jester, both horses are by Rory's Jester.

Seidnazar, won the Listed MVRC St Albans Stakes, run on Cox Plate day, as a juvenile before the colt finished in the runners-up stall in the Group 1 Blue Diamond behind Undoubtedly in 2005's renewal of the Victorian showcase juvenile event.

His full-brother, Real Jester, also precocious black type earner being the winner of the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes, and, runner-up to Testa Rossa in the Maribyrnong Plate.

Both Seidnazar and Real Jester have since retired for stud duties and have left winners.

Not enough?   The sire of this filly, Hussonet was Chile's leading juvenile sire on five occasions. Recently Angel of Mercy (ex Pieta by Clay Hero) added to Hussonet's stakes winners tally when the three-year-old strode clear in the Listed James H B Carr Stakes.  From his 82 stakes winners world-wide, 27 of them are credited with wins at Group 1 level and among them are Weekend Hussler, Eagle Falls, Gold Trial and Reaan and all have the AUS suffix.

Trainer Details

Bruce Hill took out his trainer's licence in the mid-seventies and by 1980 had travelled a horse to Melbourne, when deciding to make Australia his home. Immediately, securing a job as travelling foreman for Geoff Murphy, where he worked for three years and went on to be Geoff's Melbourne foreman for a further four years.

During his time with Murphy, Bruce looked after the great racehorses Grosvenor (Sir Tristram - My Tricia by Hermes) winner of the Group 1 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes, VRC Derby and Caulfield Cup; Sovereign Red (Sir Tristram - Taiona by Sovereign Edition) winner of the WATC Australian Derby and Western Mail Classic, VRC Derby, Caulfield Guineas, Underwood Stakes and the BTC Rothmans 10,000; and, the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner, Gurner's Lane (Sir Tristram - Taiona by Sovereign Edition).

From 1987 until 1997 Bruce trained a small team of horses where he put into practice the skills he had picked up from leading mentors, including training a horse to peak in the right race.  After his largest client passed away Bruce moved to the Gold Coast, Bruce then acted as foreman for Gerald Ryan for almost ten years, when the stable won the Queensland Guineas with Saxon (Danehill - Jeanetta Cochrane by Sadler's Wells), Magnifier (Dolphin Street - Hidden Lake by Mustin Lake) and Regent Street (Carnegie - Regal Odyssey by Vice Regal) and the Group 1 Queensland Oaks with Mon Mekki (Mukddaam - Makepeace by Ace of Aces).

When Ryan decided to transfer to Sydney, Bruce had no hesitation in taking over Ascot Lodge.  The transition has been smooth and the winners have kept on coming
