Hill Commands Filly

Filly by Commands (ex Luanda)

The TTSC's Authorised Representative, Mark Leo from Delbridge Racing, is thrilled to be offering shares in this filly by Commands to the general public.

Commands, a son of Danehill, continues to prove his worth and currently sits atop of Australia's leading sires' List by Number of individual winners, with 123 from 275 runners and progeny earnings of more than $6million, as of May 29th.

Hailing from a branch of the outstanding Eight Carat, Commands is out of Cotehele House (by My Swanee), and his top earner during the 2011-12 season has been Rain Affair (ex I Believe by Octagonal) with $815,100 banked from five victories that included a treble of Group 2 events the ATC Challenge Stakes, Expressway Stakes and Apollo Stakes.

During Commands racing career the stallion was known as a quality sprinter and was able to beat the older gallopers during his juvenile year to claim the Group 3 STC Missile Stakes (1100m).

A grandson of the priceless broodmare Eight Carat (five times Group I producer including Octagonal), Commands was never tried at 1600m and beyond.  His progeny have similarly excelled at the sprint trip 1400m – notably his Group I winners Paratroopers (AJC All-Aged S.), Undue (BTC Doomben Ten Thousand S.) and Russeting (Qld Tatt's RC Winter S.).

Commands is also responsible for the Group 1 winners Purple (Queensland Oaks (2400m)), Erewhon (AJC Spring Champion Stakes (2000m)) and Skilled (AJC Champagne Stakes (1600m)) and his overall record currently stands at 47 stakes winners, 38 stakes placegetters with  a massive 71.2% winners (568) to starters ratio (798) as of May 29th.

Not enough? This filly is out of the imported mare Luanda (ex  Via Borgehese by Seattle Dancer).  Luanda is by the deceased champion American sire Mr. Prospector who is best known for his deeds as a champion broodmare sire.

Mr. Prospector claimed 10 champion broodmare sires titles in America from 1997 until 2006.

This filly was selected with the metropolitan class races in mind and Delbridge Racing and Bruce Hill have a strict criteria with pedigree and conformation.    Both men ensure each horse is nurtured properly to ensure the filly reaches her maximum potential and has a fruitful career.

The Syndicate is going to be managed by Mark Leo from Delbridge Racing.

Bruce Hill took out his trainer's licence in the mid-seventies and by 1980 had travelled a horse to Melbourne, when deciding to make Australia his home. Immediately, securing a job as travelling foreman for Geoff Murphy, where he worked for three years and went on to be Geoff's Melbourne foreman for a further four years.

During his time with Murphy, Bruce looked after the great racehorses Grosvenor (Sir Tristram - My Tricia by Hermes) winner of the Group 1 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes, VRC Derby and Caulfield Cup; Sovereign Red (Sir Tristram - Taiona by Sovereign Edition) winner of the WATC Australian Derby and Western Mail Classic, VRC Derby, Caulfield Guineas, Underwood Stakes and the BTC Rothmans 10,000; and, the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner, Gurner's Lane (Sir Tristram - Taiona by Sovereign Edition).

From 1987 until 1997 Bruce trained a small team of horses where he put into practice the skills he had picked up from leading mentors, including training a horse to peak in the right race.  After his largest client passed away Bruce moved to the Gold Coast, Bruce then acted as foreman for Gerald Ryan for almost ten years, when the stable won the Queensland Guineas with Saxon (Danehill - Jeanetta Cochrane by Sadler's Wells), Magnifier (Dolphin Street - Hidden Lake by Mustin Lake) and Regent Street (Carnegie - Regal Odyssey by Vice Regal) and the Group 1 Queensland Oaks with Mon Mekki (Mukddaam - Makepeace by Ace of Aces).

When Ryan decided to transfer to Sydney, Bruce had no hesitation in taking over Ascot Lodge.  The transition has been smooth and the winners have kept on coming.

Bruce has trained a number of horses in recent years for Delbridge Racing with Longstreet winning four races for the Delbridge Racing / Bruce Hill combination the most notable.
